Your Money: How to avoid credit card problems

Nothing puts a damper on your vacation like having your credit card rejected.

This can happen even if you always pay your bills on time and are nowhere near your credit limit. Two reasons your credit card may not work:

Suspected fraud
Your credit card company may suspect fraud. The companies use sophisticated software to detect deviations from your normal spending patterns, such as a series of large purchases or transactions in exotic locales.
